Sunday Special #4 : Gajar Ka Halwa( Carrot Halwa)

500 gms Carrot
500 ml Milk
150-200 gms Sugar
1/2 cup Ghee
1 tsp Cardamom powder
Dry fruits


Cooking method:

  • Peel the carrots and grate them.


  • Boil the grated carrots in milk in a low flame.


  • Cook stirring all the time till all the milk evaporates.
  • Add sugar as per taste.
  • Now add the ghee and continue to cook on a low flame,keep stirring all the while.



  • Cook till fine aroma rises and the halwa is dry.
  • Now mix cardomom powder.
  • Transfer it to the serving bowls and garnish using chopped almonds, cashew and pista.

 Wow!!! Rich...sweet...delicious....and very popular in winter months especially in North India..... Gajar Ka Halwa, in my home, is usually made twice a month. I really miss home now seeing this recipe.
