Manipal, 01 September 2017: In a unique opportunity for students to learn beyond classrooms, the Faculty of Architecture (FOA) in collaboration with the Innovation Centre, Manipal University will host a “Toys Make-a-thon” from September 8 to 10, 2017.  It is an opportunity for students to promote their creativity and design toys for kids to spark imagination, engage the senses and help kids discover the magical world they live in.  “We want to give every opportunity to our students to explore their hidden talents and come up with innovative solutions,” said Dr. Arun Shanbhag, Chief Innovation Officer of Manipal University.

Make-a-thon is free for Manipal University students and faculty and all materials for making toys will be provided by the organizers.  Student teams also have the opportunity to earn cash prizes to develop their toy concepts further.  Teams can target any age group, but the toys cannot have any electrical or electronic components.

“The make-a-thon will provide the participants with hands-on experience in making toys and is an opportunity to engage with students pursuing other professional courses,” said Oorjeeta Dutta, fourth year student of FOA.
