International Womens Day at St. Francis Xavier Church, Vikroli

Mumbai, 30 March 2017: More than 100 Women participated in “INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION”  organized by the beautiful women of  “ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CHURCH”  Park Site, Vikhroli  at their Parish Hall  on Sunday, 26th March, 2017.   The Theme of the Day was “BE BOLD FOR CHANGE” Programme began at 10.30 a.m. with Women’s Creed & Anthem.  Mrs. Silvia Nazareth  welcomed the gathering.


Mrs. Flora D’Souza, Jerimeri an Activist, an Artiste, a Social Worker was the Resource person.  She gave brief introduction about IWD how, where & why the International Women’s day started and about the empowerment of Women, Gender equality, Child Marriage, Abortion, Dowry etc.,  in all the 3 languages English, Konkani and Hindi.   Flora also thanked Fr. Hubert for offering her an opportunity and preparing a platform to launch her talents and also thanked Sr. Seema who encouraged her in many ways towards women’s empowerment.



Fr. Constancio (originally from Bail-Bazar, Kurla),  Jesuit Priest of St. Joseph’s Parish Mumbra was the Guest of honor.   He congratulated all the Women and Flora D’Souza for her encouraging speech on the theme and urged all the Women  how we can bring the CHANGE among ourselves, our family then with others.  He also briefed about the tribal students how they help them,  train them in their parish and motivating them to train others in their locality.


As cultural part, there were variety of dances from the members.  Spot games & other games conducted by Silvia & Kieran.


From the crowd, Jovitha Almeida thanked the WC members for organizing such a nice event for the parishners and many women became members of the WC on the spot.


Mrs. Silvia Nazareth  gave vote of thanks and  thanked all the members & participants who supported and helped them to make this event a grand success.   She also thanked Fr. Hubert Govias, the parish Priest, who brought tremendous  changes in this parish within a short period of one year and is always supportive and  extending his helping hands to the parishners in their every need.


Snacks and return gifts distributed to all.
