Moodubelle NSS camp ends on day 7, Girls take memories with them

Moodubelle, 12 November 2013: Seventh day concluded the state level Girls NSS camp of P.U. college students on Monday 11 November 2013 with a great success. The 238 girls who are the NSS campers from 62 Colleges had plenty of memories and experiences during these 7 days which they carried with them. The seven day long state level Girls NSS camp at St. Lawrence P.U. College in Moodubelle had began on 05 November 2013.

 

The glorious valedictory program on the concluding day was presided over by Rev. Fr. Wilson V. D’Souza - Secretary of Catholic Board of Education Mangalore. Other guests and dignitaries present on the dais were; S.S. Shindha - Deputy Director of P.U. Education Dept. Udupi District, Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes - Correspondent of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions, Jyothi D. Kunder - Accounts Officer P.U. Education Department Bangalore, R.B. Nayak - President of P.U. College Principal’s Association, Maty Mudiyappa - Secretary of  P.U. College Principal’s Association, Ravindranath Hande H.P. - Assistant General Manager of Karnataka Bank Ltd, Subramanya Bhat - Senior   Manager of Syndicate Bank Udupi and Rev.  Fr. Paul Sequeira - Principal of St. Lawrence P.U. College Moodubelle.

 

Other guests and dignitaries present on the dias include;  Hilda Aranha - Senior Teacher St. Lawrence High School, Alfonse K. Alva - Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council, Devdas Hebbar - President of Old Students Association; Joseph Martis - President of  Parents & Teachers Association, Edward Larsen D’Souza – NSS Camp Officer and Associate NSS Officers from various Colleges.

 

Program began with prayer song by the students. Rev. Fr. Paul Sequeira welcomed the guests and the gathering. Program Officer M.K. Nambiar read the 7 days long NSS camp report. The leaders of five teams; Shiksha (Team - Satya), Anusha (Team - Shanthi), Akshatha.N. (Team - Nyaya), Divya. D. (Team - Neethi) and Nishmitha (Team - Sahane) spoke shared their experiences throughout the 7 days. They said that every arrangements, facilities, food, care was excellent. The organizing of the various activities and the tour of war memorial at the residence of Cmdr Castelino and the temples at Pajaka Kshethra in Kunjarugiri are most memorable. They mentioned that they enjoyed all the evening cultural programs presented by various organizations and schools and colleges. They also briefed on how they all have got to know each other in these 7 days and by sharing they became like one family and how all these experiences can help them in their future.

 

 

The campers were given certificates. There has been a lot of hard work behind this successful camp and all of them were honoured. The persons who were honoured include the following.

  • Camp Officers: Savitha, Uma, Clarina, Puttaswami, M.K.Numbiyar, Nagraj Adiga, Govindaraj, Mahesh, Ranjith and Vishnu Bhat.
  • A.K. Alva, Eugine D'Souza, Devdas Hebbar and Joseph Martis.
  • All Teachers and non teaching Staff of St. Lawrence College Moodubelle.
  • Shridhar Shettygar, Sushanth Naik, Anil Alva, Benedicta Hendry Alva, Harish, Melwyn D'Souza, Prashanth Benala, Manjunath, Geetha, Ashwin Lawrence, Raviraj Bhat and Edward Larson D'Souza.

 

S.S. Shindha in his speech appreciated the organizers on the successful NSS Girls camp in St. Lawrence P.U. College Moodubelle. He thanked Rev. Fr. Paul Sequeira, Edward Larsen D’Souza, All Associate Camp Officers, the Volunteers, everyone who contributed in different ways and the student campers for making this event a successful one.

 

Rev. Fr. Wilson D’Souza in his presidential address congratulated Fr. Joswey Fernandes, Fr. Paul Sequeira, All the Teachers, Staff and students of St. Lawrence College and also the NSS campers. He said that this is the first time in the Catholic Board of Education such event is taking place in such a scale.

 

The program was compeered by Ashwin Lawrence. Edward Larsen proposed vote of thanks. There was joy and accomplishment on the faces of the girls who really made their presence felt in Moodublle in the last 7 days. They enjoyed the time and learned many things. They were sad to leave though as they all had become friends and now they had to go back to their individual places. But they are taking the memories with them.

 

The entire Moodubelle town took part in the event in one way or the other and the NSS camp was the talk of the town these days. The organizers had involved everyone in and around Moodubelle in various daily programs to the best way possible. It was the first such event ever took place in Moodublle and the event was really a grand success.
