Moodubelle: Girl's NSS camp day 6 on education, success & music

Moodubelle, 11 November 2013: Sixth day of the state level Girls NSS camp on Sunday 10 November 2013 was on education and success in the morning session, classical music in the afternoon, pictorial talk by D.C. of Udupi Dr. M.T. Reju followed by musical concert and cultural program.


The seven day long state level Girls NSS camp is going on at St. Lawrence P.U. College in Moodubelle. As usual, in the early morning the day began with Yoga session, which was followed by flag hoisting ceremony. Shramadana was done by the girls as part of NSS camp. Some of them assisted the cook in cutting vegetables for the preparation of afternoon meal.


In the afternoon at 02.30 pm there was talk on personality development. Vincent Alva - English Professor in Milagres College Kallinapur was the resource person of the occasion. The program was presided over by Rev. Fr. Valerian D’Souza – Former Correspondent of St. Lawrence College Moodubelle.



After the talk program, the introduction and demonstration of ‘Indian Music and Musical Instruments’ was presented by ‘Sangeeta Bharathi Prathistana’, Mangalore in association with ‘Parichaya’ Pamboor. The demonstration of music was led by the renowned Sitar artist Ustad Rafiq Khan, who took the campers out of this world with his instruments and music.


In the evening program which began at 06.00 pm Deputy Commissioner of Udupi Dr. M.T. Reju was the chief guest. Dr. Reju spoke on how people can tackle the problems during disasters from rain or wind. He said at times it is possible for people to solve the problems themselves united without waiting for the district administration to attend it. He shown some video clips to the campers on situations of such situations and how the problems are tackled.


Cmdr. Jerome Castelino was the guest of honour, who in his speech briefed on St. Lawrence College and the long way it has travelled starting from Elementary School initially. The program was presided over by Rev. Fr. Paul Sequeira – Principal of St. Lawrence P.U. College, who welcomed the guests and the gathering. Edward Larsen – NSS Camp Officer proposed vote of thanks.


‘Sangeetha Rasamanjari’ a musical concert program by Kannada and Cultural Department of Udupi followed next. The program began with the first classical song sung by Chandrakala - Lecturer of Kannada in St. Lawrence P.U. College. The musical concert was conducted by Ganesh Gangolli and his team. The music virtually made the listeners dance on the floor. Earlier students also lit candles and placed it on Indian map outline marked near the flag post. After the musical concert the campers presented the cultural program, thus concluding Day 6.
